About Us
After decades of making delicious pizza from scratch and hosting community fundraisers that immediately sold out, The Pizza Box was born.
We found an old horse “box” in Coxsackie, NY. With a solid frame and not-so-solid walls, we jumped in to restore it. Melanie learned how to weld, paint, and repair the box. Michael fine-tuned his recipes, and their son Max mastered the wood-fired oven.
For our Catskills catering events we offer wood-fired dough made from scratch with a 72-hour fermentation period, the best organic tomatoes, premium cup-and-char pepperoni, and farm-to-table seasonal pies—highlighting the best of the Catskills
2021 was a year of pop-ups to introduce our pizza to the community.
2022 brought private catering and select community events.
2023 and 2024 were full of after-parties, weddings, reunions, and more.
And in 2025, we opened our first brick-and-mortar shop in New York City—same family hustle, just with four walls and a front door this time. We now offer a fast-casual, farm-to-table pizza shop experience on the iconic Bleecker Street, in the heart of NYC’s pizza scene.
